VISR utilizes the latest advances in machine learning, Natural Language Processing and sociolinguistic behaviour analysis to detect emerging safety and wellness issues children are facing online.
We do this by connecting directly to supported social networks allowing us to access activity no matter what device the child is using, and also allowing us not to have to be installed in the child’s device at all.
Rather than detecting simple keywords, our system uses computer algorithms to conduct a more complex and complete analysis of content. With over 22 supported categories, alerts include possible mental health concerns, bullying, risky geotagging, sexual content—like sexting—and developmentally inappropriate content. Then based on feedback by parents like yourself, VISR then learns and personalizes future alerts around parenting styles and sensitivities.
With over 22 supported categories, our system alerts for possible mental health concerns, bullying, risky geotagging, sexual content—like sexting—and developmentally inappropriate content.
As a parent, you can also add feedback to the alerts that in turn, teaches our system and personalizes future alerts around your parenting style and sensitivities.
To add a child, simply select:
menu > child preferences > add child
Then to connect social accounts to your child, select:
menu > child settings > add more social accounts
VISR was built with your child’s integrity and privacy in mind. As parents ourselves, we believe in allowing a child privacy online and space to develop their own online personality.
Privacy is a real issue, and is something we take very seriously. We have put in a ton of effort in making our product as safe and non-invasive as possible and this includes our focus on privacy.
The information we access on supported social channels are done so through integration portals or APIs that the channels (like Google and Facebook) collect and grant access to. This data is analysed by our system to flag potential issues that gets generated into an alert to you.
No individual sees what your child posts or generates alerts. Analysis of data is conducted by our computer algorithms.
Under no circumstances is this information sold, shared or advertised against.
Data collected by us is purged on a 30-60 day basis.
Any data that is retained is anonymized and only done so to better our algorithms and alert detection technology.
While every parent-child relationship is different, we encourage for this to be an opportunity to have an open discussion with your child about online safety and how VISR works to protect this but in a way maintains their privacy.
The VISR app does not spy on your child as parents will not have access to view all activity on social. It simply monitors activity and will only alert a parent IF there is a potential issue.
Children can authorize a parent to connect to their social network without the parents ever knowing their username and/or password. VISR was designed with the child’s integrity and privacy in mind.
VISR is not installed on your child’s device. It connects directly to Facebook, Instagram and all other supported social accounts.
We aim to balance safety and privacy. On one hand, we strive to give kids space to explore that doesn’t invade their privacy and on the other, we recognize that kids are just kids - and often don’t even recognize when issues may be happening.
Our goal is to connect families around issues that matter that strike a balance so that both parents and kids win. As such, we hope our alerts will prompt meaningful conversations about online safety and behaviour in hopes to stem bigger problems from happening.
Unfortunately we currently do not support these accounts. Although this is something that we plan to add in the future.
VISR currently connects directly to supported social networks allowing us to access activity no matter what device the child is using, and also allowing us not to have to be installed in the child’s device at all. A large number of text messaging-type apps such as these, require a program to be installed in the child’s device to access information and do not offer support for us to connect to them directly.
Privacy, including privacy for your child and allowing your child to build their own online personality is important to us. Although this sometimes leaves us at a disadvantage against other “solutions” which essentially hack devices, and store passwords accessing apps like Whatsapp, Snapchat, KiK etc - we think that compromising safety is no way to ensure safety at all. I hope you’ll agree :)
